Cookie Policy

Effective June 1, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how General Energy Corporation uses cookies and similar technologies on resources.generalenergycorp.com. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which describes the broader information practices that apply to this Site.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to improve the user experience, and to provide information to the site operator about how the site is used. Similar technologies (local storage, pixels, tags) work in comparable ways.

Cookies set by the operator of a site are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by anyone other than the site operator are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality on the Site, such as analytics.

2. The Cookies We Use

We group cookies into three categories:

  • Essential cookies. Required for the Site to function. Examples include the cookie that remembers your cookie-banner choice and the session cookies set by our hosting platform. Essential cookies are always active and cannot be disabled through the cookie banner.
  • Analytics cookies. Help us understand how visitors use the Site in aggregate, which pages are most useful, and where to make improvements. Analytics cookies are set only after you accept them through the cookie banner.
  • Functional cookies. Remember preferences and improve the user experience. We currently use few functional cookies. Any functional cookies that may be added in the future will be governed by your consent through the banner.

3. Cookies Currently in Use

The table below lists the cookies that this Site is configured to use. Analytics cookies are only set after you give consent through the cookie banner.

Cookie Purpose Type Duration Party
gec_cookie_consent Remembers your cookie-banner choice so the banner is not shown again on subsequent visits. Essential 1 year First-party
session / __vercel_* Required by Vercel, our hosting platform, to serve pages, route traffic, and protect against abuse. Essential Session to 1 year Third-party
_ga / _ga_* Set by Google Analytics (when enabled and consented to) to distinguish unique visitors and measure aggregate site usage. Analytics Up to 2 years Third-party

4. Third-Party Cookies and Services

Where analytics or other third-party features are enabled with your consent, the providers may set their own cookies and process limited information about your visit on our behalf. These providers are contractually obligated to use that information only for the purposes we authorize and are subject to their own privacy policies, which we recommend you also review.

In addition, to keep the Site secure and reliable we use Cloudflare Turnstile to protect our forms from automated abuse and Sentry to monitor for errors. These services may process technical signals about your visit and are essential to operating the Site safely. They are governed by their providers' privacy policies and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

5. How to Manage Your Cookie Choices

You can manage your cookie preferences in three ways:

  • Through the cookie banner. When you first visit the Site, the cookie banner asks whether you want to accept non-essential cookies. You can accept or reject at that time.
  • Through the Cookie Preferences link. The "Cookie Preferences" link in the Site footer reopens the cookie banner so you can change your choice at any time.
  • Through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings panel. Blocking essential cookies will prevent parts of the Site from functioning correctly.

6. Do Not Track

Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is currently no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and this Site does not respond to them differently than to standard browser visits. You can still control cookie behavior through the cookie banner and your browser settings as described above.

7. Changes to This Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as we add or change the tools and services we use. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be communicated through a notice on the Site.
