Privacy Policy

Effective June 1, 2026

General Energy Corporation ("GEC," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit resources.generalenergycorp.com (this "Site"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.

This Site is operated by General Energy Corporation, a IL corporation with offices at 400 E State Pkwy, Suite 121, Schaumburg, IL 60173. By using this Site you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in two ways:

Information you provide directly

When you fill out a contact form, request a site assessment, email us, or otherwise communicate with GEC through the Site, we collect the information you choose to share. That typically includes your name, business email address, company name, role, facility address or city, phone number (if you provide one), and any details you include about your facility or project. If you share utility bills or other operational data as part of an engineering assessment request, we collect that information for the purpose of preparing your assessment.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our hosting infrastructure and analytics services may automatically collect technical information about your visit. That includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the time and date of each visit, the referring URL (the page that linked you to us), and similar usage data. This information is used in aggregate to understand how the Site is being used and to improve performance.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Respond to inquiries, prepare engineering assessments, and deliver the services you request.
  • Communicate with you about your facility, project, or active engagement with GEC.
  • Send relevant industry updates and educational content if you have opted in to receive them.
  • Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site and the content engine.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements.
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security incidents, and violations of our terms.

3. How We Share Information

General Energy Corporation does not sell your personal information. We may share information in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Site and respond to your inquiries: Vercel (hosting and content delivery), Resend (transactional email delivery), Cloudflare Turnstile (bot and abuse protection on our forms), Upstash (rate limiting to prevent abuse), and Sentry (error monitoring). If you consent to analytics, we also use an analytics provider. These providers process information only on our behalf and are contractually required to protect it.
  • Project counterparties. If you engage GEC for a project, we may share necessary information with utility partners (ComEd, Ameren), equipment suppliers, financing partners, or municipal permitting authorities to deliver the project you have authorized.
  • Legal compliance. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GEC, our customers, or others.
  • Business transfers. If GEC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to confidentiality protections.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use the content. For details on the cookies we use, how long they last, and how to manage them, please see our Cookie Policy.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by selecting "Cookie Preferences" in the Site footer.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the services you request and to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy. Inquiry and assessment records are typically retained for the duration of the customer relationship plus a reasonable period thereafter for legal, tax, and audit requirements. We retain aggregated and de-identified usage data for longer periods to support Site improvement and reporting.

6. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information we collect. The Site uses HTTPS encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is one hundred percent secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident that materially affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
  • Opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (note: GEC does not sell personal information).
  • Designate an authorized agent to exercise these rights on your behalf.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at drewm@generalenergycorp.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally forty-five days under U.S. state privacy laws). We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

8. Children's Privacy

This Site is directed to business audiences and is not intended for children under the age of sixteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete that information.

9. International Visitors

The Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, information you submit may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our service providers operate. By using the Site you consent to that transfer and processing.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be communicated through a notice on the Site or, where appropriate, by email. Your continued use of the Site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
